During this reporting period:

  • The technology platforms including weather stations and sensory systems for monitoring the biophysical conditions of the project intervention sites were installed, data collected, analyzed and shared.
  • The series of 20 on-farm trials where installed in the key agribusinesses vicinity of the technology platforms and the farms staff, young scientists, technician and technicians from the centers were trained by the private sector partner on the understanding of the data in relation to water conservation and crop water productivity. Corresponding training program took place and the partner centers were able to analyze the data and to share the results with the stakeholders.
  • These data are actually used for crop and water models calibration and for ensuring the link with another USAID funded project coordinated by ICBA: MAWRED.
  • A work plan and budget for Yemen was submitted and approved by USAID. The practical steps about implementation taking into account the actual security situation being considered.
  • Partner centers are providing ICBA with the needed data for the project website that is hosted on ICBA’s portal. ICBA is upgrading the server capacity in order to accommodate all the needed data.

During the reporting period, the research team:
 
-        Continued data collection from the field, including biophysical and crop management data, and sensor systems data.
-        Socioeconomic survey conducted in order to describe the key irrigated farming systems, farm typology and business profiles in 17 farms located in 11 agro-ecological zones (16 geographic locations).
