Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA)
The Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) is a regional organization of water supply and sanitation utilities from the Arab Countries committed to exchanging knowledge and best practices among its members and other professionals. Since its official launching in 2009 in Amman, ACWUA has expanded its membership to include more than 100 water utility members in 18 Arab countries, as well as private-sector companies, NGOs, academic institutions, and individual members.
In partnership with several international donors – including the German International Cooperation (GIZ), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the European Union (EU), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) – ACWUA is implementing training and certification programs, participating in such international conferences as Arab Water Week, and convening best practices conferences and workshops. Through these activities, ACWUA is building the capacity of member utility staff and promoting standards of performance for the governance, management, operation, and maintenance of water supply and wastewater utilities in the region.
