Water Efficiency and Productivity

At the basin and country scale, the Water Efficiency and Productivity Technical Community addresses water valuation and allocation among sectors and the efficient and productive use of water within each sector.  Since 85 percent of the water in the Middle East and North Africa is used for irrigation, this Technical Community particularly focuses on farm-level water use. 
 
Priority research areas are:

• On-farm water-use efficiency and productivity
• Crop improvement and management under abiotic stress conditions
• System-wide water use management
• Harvest- and post-harvest technology and crop management
