e-Learning Course e-WUM 03: Water Utility Management - Applying Good Practices
Course Overview:
The (eWUM) courses are based on the «Water Impact Guidebook» by Nancy Barnes. These online courses give a step-by-step introduction to organization development and thus enhance the capacity of local decision-makers to build a new organisation or revitalise and improve an existing one (or parts of it).
The courses are offered by the in close cooperation with GIZ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Germany and the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW), Egypt.
eWUM03 is the third part of a sequence of total three courses.
This e-Learning course consists of three units:
- Unit 6 «Social Responsibility of the Water Utility» January 04-17, 2016, Study, Group work, Discussions and interactive Lectures covering these six lessons; they are: Health and Safety | Public Involvement | Serving the Poor | Conflict Resolution | Mainstreaming HIV/AIDS | Ethical Behavior
- Unit 7 «Financial Sustainability» January 18-30, 2016, Study, Group work, Discussions and interactive Lectures covering these five lessons; they are: Financial Management | Revenue Generation | Customer Service | Non-revenue Water Management | Numbers of Employees
- Unit 8 «Managing for Operational Improvements» February 01-08, 2016, Study, Group work, Discussions and interactive Lectures covering these six lessons; they are: Standard Operating Practices | Business Process | Minimum Service Standards | Quality Management | Performance Management | Crisis Management
The course is available online only. Beside various study material (17 lessons, resources and documents) it uses online collaboration tools, forum and moderated expert chats. The flexibility allows individuals to select how long and when they intend to spend learning within the course period (from January 04th - February 08th, 2016).
Target group:
Senior managers and supervisors in water and sanitation utilities, associations, water boards or other related organizations and having responsibility for the organisation or a group of people.
Technical Requirements:
Required means for joining the course: Internet access, personal Facebook and Twitter account, working e-mail address. Computer with up-to-date browser (Chrome recommended) or Smartphone/Tablet. Fluent knowledge of English language.
Certificates:
Successful participants will receive a certificate in electronic form (PDF) from ACWUA & GIZ.
Requirements:
Active participation in forum and chats, passing the multiple-choice tests, and the development of an individual Action Plan.
